Very enjoyable, but maybe not worth full retail price. But if you are on the fence about this game, you may want to wait until it's in the $30-40 range. This was a good game that I was looking forward to, so I did not mind pre-ordering for $48 (Prime member). The developers created a unique style to their design and graphics, and it shows throughout the game and succeeds on that front. Once you make a decision you have to live with it and let it play out. Being able to make decisions that alter the story line and characters is also similar to Mass Effect. The gameplay felt a bit like Mass Effect, with the cover-based shooting and powers to use that need to cooldown before using again. It was weird to sit back and watch for 20 minutes after playing for an hour. The TV hybrid format was enjoyable, but different. The time travelling, time altered story is very fun and cinematic.
I have played through Quantum Break twice and I really enjoyed the story line. (See attached photo) Overall the game is worth buying but if I had to do it over again, I would wait for the price to drop. I am enjoying all the Alan Wake references scattered throughout the game though, and some of them are very subtle thus they can be easy to miss if you are not paying attention or were not a big fan of Alan. You have to be very careful walking through doors because most of the time you will not be able to return back to that area to search for anything you may have missed! Plus with the checkpoint saves as opposed to being able to quick save when you like you may find yourself having to redo an entire act just to pick up some particles you missed the first time around! The frame rate seems to lag from time to time and the game is not without its glitches! (see attached photo) The control layout took a bit of getting used to for me, but that may have been due to muscle memory from Fallout 4. I have enjoyed the story so far but I do have to say that I am not a huge fan of how directed and linear it is. As such it is nice to have a game that doesn't require you to play with or against other players to drive the story. Older gamer here (50) who is not a huge online fan.
